Dr. Lara Tadd works as a psychological astrologer, educator, and writer. She holds an MA and PhD in Human Science. She pursued these interdisciplinary degrees in large part because she believes the world to be interconnected and no one subject exists in a vacuum. Her interdependent worldview has enabled her to work in a variety of ways with a diverse population. As the daughter of counterculture-clairvoyant parents’, astrology and “new age” perspectives have been a part of Laura’s life since childhood. As an infant, her astrology chart hung above her crib, and as a toddler, she was doing yoga and meditation with her parents long before it became the increasingly popular activity it is today.
Despite this early exposure, it was not until her mid 20’s that her passion for astrology took hold. While attending Antioch University, Santa Barbara, she joined a local women’s group that used astrology as a tool for its members to understand their lives. Attending these weekly meetings proved to be life-changing as she would spend the next 18-months studying astrology. After earning a certificate in Psychological Astrology as a Professional Astrologer, from Astrological Counseling Seminars (ACS), she began working as a consulting astrologer.
As her astrological work developed, it became clear she wanted to broaden her outreach. As a child, she witnessed how her parents, having minimal collegiate education, often struggle to reach mainstream audiences with their alternative work. Armed with that knowledge, she realized to help in the way she felt most drawn, would require additional education. To that end, she enrolled at Saybrook University ultimately receiving her PhD.
As in internationally known astrologer, Laura works in a consulting capacity with people around the world. She teaches and lectures on astrology and related disciplines both in-person and online. In addition to blogging her writing is found in The Mountain Astrologer, Celestial Vibes, and tarot.com. As an active member of the astrological community, she has sat on the boards of regional and international astrological organizations. In addition to being one of the speakers, she was on the planning committee of UAC 2018, the largest astrology conference in the world. Beyond her teaching and client work, she is currently writing a book on astrology as a tool for parenting and understanding the parent-child relationship.
